After School Program in Jackson and Plymouth

This program is 100% FREE! Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Located at Lodge Hill in Plymouth open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and in Jackson at The Hub open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-5. We do all sorts of fun activities and projects as well as the occasional field trip (free also!). Homework help is available and snacks are provided. We are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2pm-5pm. Be sure to bring your completed and signed by a parent waiver form. We will not meet on school holidays or minimum days. Fun Run - String Bean Alley 5k

5k family fun run Saturday May 30th. The Race starts on Water St. and ends 3 miles later on String Bean Alley. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Finishers will get to participate in the Centennial Anniversary of Amador City Parade later that day. Free T-shirts and finishing medals for all entrants*. Race Starts at 9:00am with Check-in starting at 8:00am. Cost is $20 for Youth, $25 for Adults. Call ACRA at (209) 223-6349 for more information. Same day registration will be available but you will only be guaranteed a t-shirt and finishing medal if you register before May 20th.

Gardening - Community Plots Now Available!

It's the grand opening of the ACRA-ARCD Community Garden in Jackson. Plot reservations are now available!
Small plots: 4x12 - $50 annual fee
Large plots: 4x24 - $100 annual fee
PLUS $100 refundable deposit

Ghost Trails Cemetery Hunt

Take a trip back in time on the ghost trails adventure! A scavenger hunt through the historic Pine Grove, Aqueduct and Volcano cemeteries. Use a map to find specific cemeteries on the adventure. Find the headstones that correspond to short stories of pioneers, their journey west and settling in Amador County. Packets are $10, available at the ACRA office or we can email it to you. This is a great family activity! Proceeds benefits ACRA and the Amador County Cemetery Board.

Tri Amador Triathlon

Sunday October 4th -- Sprint and Olympic Distances Available, a USAT Sanctioned Triathlon. The swim takes place in the waters of Lake Camanche, the bike ride features a loop through the beautiful hills of Buena Vista, and the run is an out-and-back on the lakeview China Gulch Trail. Prizes to the top overall finishers -- Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals to the top 3 finishers in each age group. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt, a goodie bag, and healthy snacks throughout the day.

Yoga - FREE Event

On May 23, local yoga enthusiasts will present a FREE opportunity for all ages to try a gentle yoga session, outdoors in Detert Park with lovely live classical music. All levels are welcome, even if you've never done yoga before. No pre-registration is required -- check in starting at 9:15am. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water and a mat if you have one. If not, bring a large towel or two. Children under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

British Soccer Camp

June 8th-12th at Howard Park in Ione. Includes free ball and camp t-shirt. Register before April 24th and receive a FREE jersey. This Camp will feature 1,000 touches curriculum, packed with drills and practices designed to improve individual ball control, footskills, fakes, moves, juggling and core techniques! Astronomy

Monthly astronomy meetings at the HUB in Jackson at 7pm. Free to all astronomers, bring your telescopes! 2015 meeting dates: Feb-7, Mar-7, Apr-11, May-2, Jun-6, Jul-11, Aug-1, Sep-26, Oct-24, Nov-28, Dec-19.

Fly Fishing Class

Amador County Recreation Agency (ACRA), in partnership with Amador Flyfishers, a local fly fishing club, is pleased to offer a course on the ins and outs of fly fishing to those who want to learn about the sport. Course content includes: What fly fishing is about, Bugs, their life cycle and importance in fly fishing, Overview of fly fishing equipment and how to use it, Where to find fish and why they are where they are, Where to go fly fishing and special regulations, Casting techniques - a demonstration and an opportunity to practice.
Cost is $40 and classes will be held on June 13 & 14 9:00 am - 4:00 pm at The HUB / 206B Main Street, Jackson. Class size is limited to 20 people. Must be 18 years or older. Ages 12-17 may attend, but must be accompanied by an adult participant.
A fishing trip is scheduled for June 27th. Time and location to be announced.

Wines of the World

Join in an exploration of the primary grape growing and wine making regions of the world. Learn the principle grape varieties from each region and what wines they are used to produce. The grape varieties, growing conditions, geology and specific wine characteristics for important wine regions in France, Spain, Italy, South America and California will be covered.
