ACRA shall maximize recreational opportunities for all residents of Amador County through sustaiinable planning, financing, facilities operations, and programs.
Founded in 2003, the Amador County Recreation Agency (ACRA) is a joint powers authority designed to meet the recreation needs of all Amador County residents and visitors. We create, maintain and develop recreation facilities and programs throughout the county.
Please help ACRA by taking our survey about park use in Amador County. We want to know what you want!
Here's just some of what we do:
ACRA provides recreation programming for youth, adults, and families. We also host special events, such as the 49er Bypass Challenge and Sutter Creek Duck Race. ACRA also sets up fun zones at other events throughout the county, including the Amador County Fair and Black Bart Days.
ACRA maintains several parks throughout the county, including Lyons Park, Pioneer Park, and Fiddletown Park. The agency is also responsible for developing local parks and recreation facilities. Current renovation projects include River Pines Park and the Volcano Armory Hall, just to name a few. ACRA is also in the beginning stages of creating a regional trails plan.
ACRA is always looking for new places where Amador County residents and visitors can recreate. Generous property owners in the county have donated land to ACRA, which will preserved for public use in perpetuity.
ACRA would like to give a special thanks to Fred Joyce, who donated the 76 acres that is Mollie Joyce Park in Pioneer to ACRA in February 2008.
Having an event you want publicized? ACRA can get the word out by distributing your
event flyer to more than 100 locations in the county
for just $75!
