Hello, my name is Liz MacLeod, and I've been working at ACRA for a little more than a year. As ACRA's Coordinator of Services and Public Affairs, my role within the agency is multi-faceted: I write grants, look for additional funding sources, coordinate public outreach efforts, design ways to incorporate drug and alcohol prevention into our programming, and work on youth development and environmental sustainability issues. Needless to say, ACRA always keeps me busy, and it's a privilege to play a role in providing quality recreation opportunities in Amador County. I believe that recreation is key to a healthy life, both physically and psychologically, and a healthy community.
I was born in Jackson and raised both locally and in the Bay Area. I obtained an Associate's Degree in Liberal Studies in 2003 from Columbia College, near Sonora. I then transferred to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies in 2006. Upon graduating, I returned to the Mother Lode with the goal of giving back to this wonderful place. Every day at ACRA is a day that I achieve that goal, whether through seemingly minute achievements or those that are larger and more tangible.
In the words of our director, Tracey Towner-Yep, "Working at ACRA is not what we have to do, it's what we get to do." She is absolutely right! I couldn't imagine a more rewarding way to give back to the community and look forward to continuing to do so for years to come.
ACRA's mission is to maximize recreation opportunities for all the people in all the areas of Amador County by working collaboratively and thinking regionally.
