Our mission is to maximize recreation opportunities for all the people in all the areas of Amador County by working collaboratively and thinking regionally.
Founded in 2003, the Amador County Recreation Agency (ACRA) is a
joint powers authority designed to meet the recreation needs of all
Amador County residents and visitors. We create, maintain and develop recreation facilities and programs throughout the county.
Here's just some of what we do:
ACRA provides recreation programming for youth, adults, and families. We also host special events, such as the 49er Bypass Challenge and Kennedy Mine Barbeque. ACRA also sets up fun zones at other events throughout the county, including the Amador County Fair, Black Bart Days, and Camp Out for Cancer.
Download the Pine Grove Park Preliminary Plan and email us your feedback. NOTE: The preliminary map is a large PDF file (7.2MB) and may take a few moments to download.
ACRA maintains several parks throughout the county, including Lyons Park, Pioneer Park, and Fiddletown Park. The agency is also responsible for developing local parks and recreation facilities. Current renovation projects include River Pines Park and the Volcano Armory Hall, just to name a few. ACRA is also in the beginning stages of creating a regional trails plan.
ACRA is always looking for new places where Amador County residents and visitors can recreate. Generous property owners in the county have donated land to ACRA, which will preserved for public use in perpetuity.
ACRA would like to give a special thanks to Fred Joyce, who donated the 76 acres that is Mollie Joyce Park in Pioneer to ACRA in February 2008.
Having an event you want publicized? ACRA can get the word out by distributing your event flyer to more than 100 locations in the county for just $75! Flyers are distributed at the beginning and middle of every month.
ACRA rents out its dunk tank and outdoor cinema equipment/crew for private events in the county and beyond. The dunk tank is available for $100 per day, plus $100 for optional delivery and pickup. The outdoor cinema equipment/crew is $2,000 per day within the county and $3,500 outside Amador. Call ACRA for more information.
